In 2003 my drill sergeant gave all of us a bottle of CLP and said, “Privates, treat your weapon right and it will save your life; a clean weapon is a dependable weapon.” I would not understand how true that was until 2005 when I was running supply convoys in Iraq. As we were preparing for a mission, I was given bottle a bottle of CLP and told to use it until they could find more; however, there was less then 1oz left for multiple soldiers to share, and as a rear convoy gunner I had three weapons to prep. I used most of the bottle on the 50 Cal & and my M16A2 rifle. I used the remaining amount on my 9mm Beretta.
As murphy’s law would dictate, once on the road, we had a white Chevy Caprice approaching quickly from the rear. Quickly, I begin my engagement sequence: I popped a flare, went to 9mm, but it jammed. The car was still approaching quickly. I tried to clear the 9mm, but it jammed again. At this point, I went to my M16A2 and fired 4 rounds into the hood of the vehicle; needless to say, it stopped, and no one was hurt. It turned out my drill sergeant was right: “a clean weapon is a dependable weapon.” The M16A2 fired without issue when it was needed the most. The other take away from this incident is, as a deployed soldier in combat operations, why didn’t I have the CLP required to operate successfully?

Radcolube® is the brand name of Radco Industries manufactured MIL-SPEC lubricants. Radcolube® products are critical application lubricants that are used in various military applications across air, land, and sea. The same engineering approach and technology used to formulate those products was used to produce our Radcolube® CLP GUN OIL.
Radcolube® CLP GUN OIL is qualified to Military Specification MIL-PRF-63460F TY:A (CLEANER, LUBRICANT, AND PRESERVATIVE). What do we mean by qualified, you ask? Radcolube® CLP GUN OIL was tested by the Department of the Army, their testing included live-fire testing in extreme conditions of cold, salt, and dust with a fire rate of 650 rounds/minute with zero stoppages on an M249. Radcolube® CLP GUN OIL’s excellent performance on these tests have allowed Radco Industries to be the primary supplier of CLP GUN OIL to the U.S. Military.
